Liverpool are among several teams who are “interested” in signing Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso, according to reports in the Italian media.

Tutto Juve claim that the Reds, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter Milan are keeping an eye on the 26-year-old’s situation.

The Serie A side are currently sitting in the final Champions League spot, but they have drawn their last two matches.

It means the chasing pack are closing in on Luciano Spalletti’s team, and if they don’t seal qualification for Europe’s top competition, it would have massive implications for their finances and Cambiaso’s future.

The Liverpool target could be available for a low price

At the moment, Cambiaso is reportedly valued at around €40m (£35m) to €50m (£43m). However, Juve would have to revisit that asking price if they finish below 4th in the table.

It is believed that the Italian international could end up on the market for just €30m (£26m), and several teams (including the Reds) may be tempted to table an offer in that scenario.

Cambiaso can play on both flanks

What makes the defender a very attractive proposition is the fact that he is two-footed. While he has played the majority of his games on the left for Juventus, he is equally comfortable on the other wing.

For Liverpool, he seems like an ideal target. They need to replace Andy Robertson, who will be leaving Anfield when his contract expires in June. However, they desperately need another option at right-back as well.

Conor Bradley is injury-prone, and he is currently in rehabilitation after having surgery on his knee back in January. Jeremie Frimpong, meanwhile, is not suited to a back four, and Arne Slot has been favouring midfielders, such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones, with no other options available. Cambiaso would, therefore, solve two problems at the same time.
