Desire for silverware can seal transfer to Liverpool–Reds‘above all’ in chase

Liverpool have previously been linked with a move for Juventus’ Gleison Bremer, and the Reds are still in the mix.

This season, the Brazilian has been key for the Old Lady. Familiar muscle problems have held him back at times but his impact has been clear whenever he plays.

He’s played 24 Serie A games, constantly showing that he is arguably Juve’s best defender right now. He also has a tally of four goals, thanks to his aerial ability.

Earlier this year, Sport Witness covered how Liverpool have previously tried to sign the Brazil international.

That opportunity is still very much there this summer.

Bremer seeking silverware

Corriere dello Sport explain Bremer’s ambitious personality and the fact that he is desperate to win the Serie A. He wants it as quickly as next season, even if Juve might not be in a situation to help him achieve that.

The Turin club are more focused on being a regular inside the top-four and this might not satisfy the 29-year-old anymore.

Even if they consider Bremer a key player, his situation is far from certain. A good showing at the World Cup can also spark his potential exit.

Release clause in contract

The newspaper report Liverpool are ‘above all’ when it comes to interest in the centre-back.

His contract has a €58m release clause, although less would almost certainly be accepted.

As of now, Bremer seems to be happy in Turin and that comes directly from his entourage. But if Liverpool come calling, this could change. If they trigger the release clause, Luciano Spalletti’s side may not have a chance of keeping him.

Our take: Bremer’s injuries a big concern

There has never been any doubt about the Brazilian’s abilities ever since he first made a mark at Torino.

At Juve though, injuries have become a recurring theme. This has stopped Bremer from being an even more important player. There is every chance he could’ve been one of the best defenders in Europe, if not for those injuries.

As often happens, major knee problems have led to muscle injuries.
