**Man Utd striker Benjamin Sesko was forced off at half-time against Liverpool last weekend after picking up a knock.**
Speaking after the [**3-2 win on Sunday**](https://manunews.com/blog/man-utd-player-ratings-liverpool/), manager Michael Carrick revealed that the Slovenian international had been playing with a shin injury, but he aggravated the issue when he got pushed off the side of the pitch by Reds defender Ibrahima Konate:
“He got a bang on his shin when he fell down the side of the pitch… It’s something that he’s been carrying for a little bit as well, so we’ve had to manage him, but he’s certainly had a bang right on the same spot. It’s as simple as that, really.”
At the moment, it is not clear whether Sesko will be in contention for United’s next fixture against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

Matthijs de Ligt
----------------
The centre-back was pictured back training on the grass last week, but Carrick subsequently ruled out a comeback against Liverpool.
De Ligt has not played since the 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace in late November. A chronic back problem has forced him onto the sidelines for several months. Carrick has said the road to recovery has not been straightforward and the centre-half is having to work hard on his fitness:
“It’s different treatment and different exercises. He’s in the gym and doing work, but he’s not quite on the grass, and he’s not ready for that yet. That’s the process that, unfortunately, when you’re injured, you’ve to go through.”
“Sometimes it happens quicker than others, and sometimes there’s things that don’t quite go to plan, and it’s a bit slower. He’s just at that stage where he’s working through that at the moment, and we’re trying to get him back right.”
While there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel for de Ligt, it is by no means guaranteed that he will play again this campaign.
**Expected Return Date – Unknown**
