Club Chief Tells Newcastle, Chelsea And Liverpool That Brazilian Wonderkid Will Only Be Sold For“Big”Price

**Gremio vice-president Antonio Dutra Jr has said that the Brazilian club have not received any official bids for Newcastle target Gabriel Mec.**

The Magpies, Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs that have been linked with the 18-year-old in recent months. However, Dutra believes the teenager will have a “very big value” in the future, so he will not be allowed to leave for a low price.

“There is currently no official proposal for Gabriel Mec. He is a Gremio player, and we count on him. When proposals arrive, Gremio will analyse them, both for Gabriel and for any other player…”

“I think he is a player who will have a very big value. He is a player who is only just starting his career and has enormous potential. I am certain he will have a brilliant career.”

What do Newcastle fans need to know about the player?

-----------------------------------------------------

Mec is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he is two-footed, so he can play off either flank as well.

The Brazlian made his senior debut in the Gaucho State Championships against Monsoon FC in January 2025, and he has gone on to make 24 appearances at first-team level.

Mec scored his first goal against Coritiba last month. It was the winner in a 1-0 victory for Gremio.

At international level, the youngster played at the Under-17 World Cup late last year. He scored in the opening group match – a 7-0 win against Honduras.

Despite that goal, Mec was only used as a substitute during the tournament as Brazil were knocked out by Portugal on penalties at the semi-final stage.

Mec is not the only young Brazilian being targeted

It seems as if sporting director Ross Wilson wants to find talent in the South American market, going by recent media reports.

In addition to Mec, Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in Palmeiras winger Eduardo Conceicao. Last month, it was [**claimed**](https://newcastleunitednews.org/blog/newcastle-united-transfer-news-eduardo-conceicao/) that the Magpies had a €25m (£22m) offer rejected for the 16-year-old**.**
