Senesi & £75m midfielder linked, plus ticket price changes – Latest Liverpool FC News

Liverpool have been linked with Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt and the club have announced they will scale back their proposed ticket price rises.

Liverpool’s ‘great interest’ in Victor Froholdt

Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister are two players who could leave Liverpool this summer, which would leave vacant spots in midfield.

As a result, there are several names being linked to the Reds, with Porto’s Danish midfielder, Froholdt, the latest to be mentioned in connection to a move.

Denmark outlet Bold reported that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are showing ‘great interest’ in the 20-year-old international.

Despite being signed for less than £20 million last summer from Copenhagen, Froholdt is reported to have a release clause of £73.4m.

While Liverpool will likely look to strengthen their midfield, that fee looks like a massive gamble for a youngster who has played just one season outside of Denmark!

• Merseyside reporter Lewis Steele has told Anfield Index that Liverpool have been “looking at” Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi “because he is free” – at 28 years old, we wouldn’t expect the Reds to spend big on another centre-half

More from This Is Anfield

Jones’ potential exit this summer could be a blow for more than one reason; he is a homegrown player and the squad could be left with a dearth of them.

Jack Lusby looks at Liverpool’s problem and how it could be solved:

“To qualify as homegrown, a player must have been registered to a club in the English or Welsh FAs “for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

“But with Gomez and Jones both entering the final year of their contracts and attracting interest, and Harvey Elliott expected to depart, Liverpool could be left with just six first-team players with homegrown status.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

It is hard to believe it has already been seven years since Liverpool thrashed Barcelona 4-0, on May 7, 2019 to reach the Champions League final.

On arguably Anfield’s greatest-ever night, Jurgen Klopp‘s side overturned a 3-0 deficit from the first leg despite Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Adam Lallana all missing out through injury.

Due to Liverpool’s absences, Xherdan Shaqiri started his first game for four months, alongside Sadio Mane and Divock Origi in attack.

Once kick-off came, Anfield was a cacophony of noise as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho were overwhelmed by the force of the players and supporters.

Never forget how powerful a united club can be.
