Chelsea’s chances of landing Cesc Fabregas ridiculed by Como sporting director

Cesc Fabregas continues to be the pick of the bunch when it comes to the manager Chelsea fans want at Stamford Bridge. But Como’s sporting director has just ridiculed the thought of his exit.

At the moment, the three leading candidates to take over from Liam Rosenior and Calum McFarlane are Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Xabi Alonso. But there are doubts regarding all three possibilities.

QUARTER-FINAL TWO: Enzo Fernandez vs Cole Palmer?

Iraola could be set for Palace, while Fulham hope to tie down Silva’s future despite the Portuguese boss still not putting pen to paper. Alonso is out of work, but Jamie Carragher doesn’t believe he will sign on.

Xavi, Oliver Glasner, Francesco Farioli, Fabian Hurzeler, Niko Kovac, Antonio Conte and plenty more have been linked with Chelsea. As has former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, as he shines over in Serie A.

Como sporting director discusses Cesc Fabregas’ future

Fabregas has been strongly linked with Chelsea over the past fortnight, largely because he would be the pick of Chelsea’s supporters. Fabregas himself has said he is not currently thinking about the future.

Now, Como’s sporting director Carlo Alberto Ludi – who has played a big part in Como’s successes with Fabregas – has discussed the future of the former Arsenal and Chelsea star, as per TuttoMercatoWeb.

“For us, there’s no doubt about starting over with him, just like for Cesc himself. We’re completely aligned and have shared ambitions; he’s the cornerstone of our technical development,” Ludi said at an event.

“We’re on a honeymoon with him, as we like to say; he’s a predestined talent and a champion on the bench, and we’re counting on him to continue developing this project in the direction we’re going.”

He can go to Chelsea if he wants: Como’s owner on Fabregas

Speaking in the last fortnight, Como’s owner has also declared his stance on Fabregas’ future. Mirwan Suwarso says that it is up the Spaniard whether he wants to remain with Como, or join the Blues.

MESSAGE TO BLUECO: Get Fabregas in and listen to JT! 👊

It just makes sense.

“If that makes him happy, that’s him. You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible but at the end of the day we don’t own him and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes,” Suwarso said.

As things stand, Fabregas will surely be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge as manager. But as any other manager linked with the job, Fabregas will have reservations about the ownership’s influence.

Enzo Maresca lost his job because he questioned the running of the club and any incoming manager will want authoritative power at the Blues. Liam Rosenior was happy to go without, and he lost any power.

If Chelsea want to please their supporters with the hiring of a big-name manager, then they will have to change the way they are operating, give more power to the manager and stop getting so involved.
