With the 2026 NFL Draft in the rear view mirror, one notable need on the Minnesota Vikings roster is the wide receiver position. The club would largely benefit from finding a solid veteran to play as the third option in the passing game, and one ESPN analyst ponders if Stefon Diggs could be the player the front office acquires before training camp.
In Aaron Schatz's latest column for ESPN, where he goes over the biggest need for all 32 teams, he declares that the Vikings need to address the wide receiver position for the upcoming season. After Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the wideout depth fades quickly, and Schatz simply asks if Diggs, along with Jauan Jennings and Deebo Samuel, could be targets for the Minnesota brass.
“Justin Jefferson? One of the best. Jordan Addison? The Vikings happily picked up his fifth-year option. But what about a third starting wide receiver?” asked Schatz. “Tai Felton, who had three catches as a rookie in 2025, is the option for now. There's no depth here, either, as the Vikings don't have another wide receiver who was either drafted or has ever caught a regular-season pass in the NFL.
“Would Stefon Diggs like to return to where his career started?” pondered Schatz. “How about some interest in Jauan Jennings or Deebo Samuel? The Vikings need a veteran receiver addition.”

Diggs, who is 32 years old, initially played for the Vikings for the first five seasons of his career. He had a breakout year in the 2018-19 campaign, where he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time and hauled in nine touchdowns, which is the third most he's ever totaled in a single season.
The four-time Pro Bowler is well remembered in Minnesota for making a 61-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Case Keenum as time expired to defeat the New Orleans Saints 29-24 in the 2018 NFC Divisional round of the playoffs. He is now an 11-year veteran searching for a new team to call home after playing for the New England Patriots last season.
Although a reunion with the Vikings sounds great, he has been a bit of a controversial player over the past few seasons. However, Stefon Diggs was recently found not guilty on all counts in a lawsuit alleging he was in a physical altercation with his personal chef over her pay.
There was also the viral moment on a boat where he was seen handing an unknown pink substance to several women. Even with the controversies, Diggs has remained active in the NFL and continued his playing career.
