If Liverpool is indeed in the running for Marcos Senesi this summer, it has plenty of glowing references from his current manager that could sway its decision.
The Bournemouth defender has been linked as a potential target for the Reds this summer, with reports in recent days claiming that Liverpool could hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign him.
Senesi is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, and Spurs do seem to be leading the charge to sign him. The Reds are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation though, and with Tottenham still not assured of a Premier League place next season, there could yet be an opportunity for Arne Slot’s side.

Senesi will already be well known to the Liverpool boss, with the defender having played under Slot at Feyenoord. Not only that, but the Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes was the man who brought the Argentine to the Premier League in his previous role at Bournemouth.
And Cherries boss Andoni Iraola - who has also been linked with a switch to Anfield this summer - has given Liverpool plenty of reasons to make the move for his center-back.
Speaking last month after a 2-2 draw with Leeds, in which Senesi provided an assist for Eli Junior Kroupi, Iraola said: “Marcos is a top centre-back on the ball.

“I think these kinds of games suit his style, especially when we push them more backwards and we could put our center-backs in the opposition half.
“I think he, and also (James) Hill, found good positions to give through balls, assists, and the first goal to Junior (Kroupi) is a lovely pass.
“The second goal to Evanilson is even a more difficult one, and even some crosses. Marcos is used from his centre back position to put some good crosses and it's lovely to have him on the team.”
Liverpool does look as though it could do with freshening up its defense, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate having played the majority of games over the last couple of seasons, and questions having surrounded some of their performances this season.

The Reds are bringing in Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes during the summer, and Giovanni Leoni should hopefully be able to play more of a part next season once he’s recovered from injury - and Senesi certainly sounds as though he could be welcome addition to the pack.
“I think Marcos has been very good,” Iraola said in December. “He was performing well even before I arrived to the club.
“I remember some games that I watched from the previous season where he performed really well. And with us, you know what to expect when you put Marcos in the starting lineup.
“On the ball, off the ball, he understands very well also the way we want to play and for us it's very valuable. I don't think it’s a big secret.”

He went on to add: “I think he's very confident on the ball and also he makes the ones next to him more confident.

“This is something that when you feel confident, the one next to you looks a little bit better and the other one looks a little bit better and is good for the team.
“He has, I think on the ball, he can play short, he can play long. His understanding of the game, I would say, even without the ball, when to press, when to drop a little bit.
“And also, for our team, he’s quite an experienced player. He has played in other leagues, has played in Europe. I think these are qualities for this team, I think are very important.”
