Vrabel denied any wrongdoing. He toldPage Six, “These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable.” Dianna Russini also dismissed the images. Her editor backed her at first. That support did not last.
Six days later, Russini resigned from The Athletic. The New York Times reported the publication was investigating her conduct. Shewrote, “I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career.” She stepped down before her contract expired on June 30.
On April 22, Page Six released more resort images showing the pair eating breakfast together. One day later, photos from March 2020 surfaced. They showed Vrabel and Russini kissing at a New York City bar. An eyewitness toldPeople, “They were kissing and they were all over each other.” Vrabel wore his wedding ring that night.
Dianna Russini built her name as one of the most visible NFL reporters in the country. She worked at ESPN before joining The Athletic in 2023. She married Kevin Goldschmidt in September 2020. Together they share two sons.

On April 30, former NFL receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh appeared on the Speakeasy show. He argued this was not a brief affair. “This wasn’t an affair, she was his girlfriend,” hestated. “They were telling each other, ‘I love you.’” He suggested Vrabel might be the father of Russini’s eldest son Michael, born in August 2021. “That might be his baby,” Houshmandzadeh said. No paternity claims have been proven.

Vrabel told reporters he had “difficult but positive” talks with his family. He committed to seeking counseling. The NFL chose not to investigate. The Patriots kept him as head coach.
Craig Carton alsosaid on his radio show, “Why don’t we come around to the reality that they’re madly in love with each other?” Both Vrabel and Russini denied a romantic relationship in official statements. But the photos tell a different story.
