Minnesota Vikings: Land a Talented Number 3 Receiver Option

The Minnesota Vikings desperately needed to find a viable number-three receiver option alongside Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison after losing Jalen Nailor to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Nailor’s departure leaves Tai Felton, who primarily played on special teams as a rookie, as the current replacement after logging only three receptions for 25 yards in 46 offensive snaps. Additionally, the Vikings did not select a wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft.

According to Adam Schefter, the Vikings have signed former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings to a one-year deal worth up to $13 million, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. He visited Minnesota on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week but ultimately left without a deal, though they kept in touch. Jennings waited until after the 2026 NFL Draft to sign, primarily because there was a rumor that he had rejected the 49ers’ multi-year offer of about $17 million annually in 2025, seeking a higher salary than teams were willing to pay. Teams also waited to avoid interfering with the compensatory pick formula for the 2027 NFL Draft.

After a breakout 2024 campaign in which he posted career highs with 975 yards, Jauan Jennings sought a contract extension last offseason but never signed a long-term deal and settled for a reworked contract that added $3 million in play-time incentives. He had a down year in 2025, hauling in 55 receptions for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns in the regular season, along with three receptions for 68 yards in the playoffs. Jennings earned $4.33 million in incentives but missed out on the remaining $666,667 after failing to reach the 60-reception threshold.
