Arsenal and Liverpool are among the Premier League teams said to be chasing a big money move for Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt this summer.

Froholdt has emerged as a standout star for Porto during his debut campaign for the club, having joined the Portuguese side from FC Copenhagen last summer for €20 million.

The 20-year-old has provided six goals and six assists to help Porto secure the Liga Portugal title this season, while he has been capped ten times by Denmark since making his debut in March 2025.

Froholdt’s displays have prompted interest from all around Europe but it is in the Premier League where teams are said to be ‘in love’ with the youngster, with Newcastle also tracking the Danish wonderkid along with the Gunners and Liverpool.

According to Danish outlet Bold" href="https://bold.dk/fodbold/nyheder/froholdt-til-premier-league-tre-topklubber-er-forelsket/" target="_blank">Bold, Froholdt could be allowed to leave Porto for his release clause of 635 Danish Krone or roughly €85m – an eyewatering fee which teams are unlikely to meet.

However, all three teams are have been excited by the pedigree shown by a young player in just one year at Porto and their interest is expected to develop over the summer.

Victor Froholdt: Porto’s ‘winner’ being admired by Premier League giants

Along with his impressive performances, Froholdt has enjoyed a reputation as a ‘winner’, having won the double with Copenhagen before replicating the feat for Porto this season.

In particular, Froholdt has been praised for his passing ability and attacking prowess but, at 6 foot 2 inches tall, he is capable of playing a deeper role.

Liverpool are expected to push for a midfielder this summer, particularly with doubts emerging over the long-term futures" href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2026/04/curtis-jones-ready-quit-liverpool-transfer-main-man-desire" target="_blank">particularly with doubts emerging over the long-term futures of Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are hoping to add more mobility in the middle of the park this summer but much will depend on whether Myles Lewis-Skelly remains at the club after the youngster battled his way back into the first team in midfield over recent weeks.

Newcastle will also be in the market for a midfielder if they sell Sandro Tonali this summer but, with the Magpies likely to miss out on Champions League football next season, they will be behind their rivals in any race for Froholdt.

However, with Froholdt still having four years remaining on his contract, much will depend on whether Porto are open to accepting a lower fee for a player who has become crucial to their success this season.
