Premier League title-chasers Manchester City are renaming the Etihad Stadium for the first time in 15 years.
However, the change will only be in place for this weekend’s crucial league clash against Brentford.
Pep Guardiola’s side can ill-afford another slip-up after dropping two points in a 3-3 draw against Everton earlier this week. That result has left City five points behind leaders Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Although City have a game in hand over the Gunners, who have three matches left to play, Mikel Arteta and his players know they will secure the club’s first Premier League title since 2004 if they win all of their remaining fixtures.

As a result, City must beat Brentford at their home stadium on Saturday evening. However, eagle-eyed fans may notice a subtle change to the stadium name.
Per the Manchester Evening News, the Etihad Stadium will be changed to ‘The City in the Community Etihad Stadium’ for this weekend’s fixture.
City in the Community (CITC), founded in 1986, is the club’s official charity which supports people across Greater Manchester by “empowering healthy lives through football”. The club’s website states:
“Our youth-led programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.”
CITC will be visible around the matchday in various ways, alongside the stadium’s change of name. City’s players will walk out in jackets with the charity’s branding, while player graphics on social media have been designed by local schoolchildren.
Meanwhile, defended Ruben Dias has voiced travel announcements for buses and trams heading to The City in the Community Etihad Stadium on matchday routes.
One matchday is picked annually to highlight everything the charity does, and this year’s event will take place around the Brentford game.

Man City moved into their stadium, originally known as the City of Manchester Stadium, in 2003 after saying an emotional farewell to their beloved Maine Road.
The stadium was initially designed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games but is now one of the most famous grounds in the Premier League.
Renamed the Etihad Stadium by the club in July 2011 as part of a 10-year agreement with the team kit sponsors Etihad Airways, City’s stadium name is known across the world thanks to the club’s extraordinary success over the past 15 years.
City have won eight Premier League titles since 2010, three FA Cups, seven League Cups and the UEFA Champions League.
