Jurgen Klopp gave Mohamed Salah a half-time reality check on his Liverpool debut, before the Egyptian scored in a 3-3 draw with Watford.

That was way back in August 2017, when Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were on the scoresheet together for the first time. The former AS Roma man was making his first appearance after a $50 million (£37 million) move from Serie A.

Speaking ahead of his final few weeks as a Liverpool player, Salah has been reminiscing about some big moments in his Anfield career. It remains to be seen if he can face another old side, Chelsea, this weekend, because of injury.

"I remember the feeling (of making my debut)," Salah told Super Sport.

"I was stressing out for the whole game. It was the first game back [in the Premier League]. In the first half, I wasn't anywhere near it; I wasn't good at all.

"I remember Jurgen Klopp talking to us at half-time and saying, 'Some of you, welcome to the Premier League. Now we have to fight, and we have to win.'

"But I was stressing out. The relief after scoring the first goal, oh my goodness. I don't think I've ever felt as stressed as that game in my life. I expected to score in my first game, but I was stressed."

Salah has gone on to score another 256 times for the Reds in all competitions. He has won every major trophy in that time, with his best season coming under Arne Slot last year when he secured a second Premier League title.

"The three of us had a desire to succeed and achieve stuff, and Bobby had a big role in that because he had to drop for us," Salah said of his relationship with Mane and Firmino.

"He had to sacrifice himself for us a little bit so that we can play our game. We both, me and Sadio, were driven by scoring goals and challenging each other.

"I think it was healthy for us and it was necessary. Klopp also let us grow and challenge each other, and it was very helpful for the team.

"We knew how to play football and we had the desire. If you have the desire, you can achieve big things. We three had the desire. Bobby just liked to enjoy his football and didn't care too much about the numbers.

"There was a period of time, and I don't want to sound arrogant, but we knew that one of the three was going to score. It was very good for the team and for the club as well."
