Former Liverpool midfielder Bolo Zenden believes Paris Saint-Germain winger Desire Doue would represent a "dream" signing for the Reds this summer.

And the ex-Holland international has warned old Anfield team-mate Xabi Alonso against taking over as manager at Chelsea.

Liverpool are expected to be busy in the transfer window once again this summer with much of their effort likely to be concentrated on strengthening their forward line.

Mohamed Salah will leave on a free at the end of the season, there are doubts over the future of Federico Chiesa while Hugo Ekitike will be missing for a lengthy period as he recovers from Achilles surgery.

Doue has been outstanding for PSG since arriving from Rennes two years ago, and while Zenden readily admits it would be difficult for Liverpool to persuade the 20-year-old to leave the European champions, he represents the calibre of player the Reds should be seeking to reinforce their squad.

"A player I like a lot and would be my dream signing for Liverpool is Desire Doue," said Zenden. "Having said that, I think it would be really hard to persuade him to leave PSG.

"Doue is doing really, really well for his age and has a certain profile that would obviously fit Liverpool. But, as I said, he's at a great club, and they're winning most of the trophies that they can.

"For him to leave Paris, it will be a difficult one, but he's definitely a player that I like to watch. He's one of the players that plays on that wing and week in, week out shows his qualities. It would be a dream signing."

A difficult season has seen Liverpool head coach Arne Slot come under heavy scrutiny, although the Dutchman retains the faith of the Anfield hierarchy.

Among those linked with the role of Reds boss is Alonso, who has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid at the start of the year after a brief spell in charge at the Bernabeu.

The Spaniard has recently been touted as a potential contender as Chelsea manager following the recent dismissal of Liam Rosenior.

But Zenden - speaking to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest Champions League betting - said: "I’d be cautious about Xabi Alonso to Chelsea, I’m not sure it’s a good idea and I think you have to take a few things in mind.

"First of all, he has a history with Liverpool and he’s not been a manager in England yet. Now, I remember when I was assistant coach to Rafa Benitez when he joined Chelsea. I was there and I saw what happened to Benitez with the Chelsea fans.

"They never really took him on because of his history at Liverpool. He was a manager there and not a player so it might be slightly different, but I’d be cautious.

"The other thing is when he was at Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, there obviously was some criticism that he couldn't really cope with the star attitudes from certain players. And I think he was used to managing in Germany where the players are more likely to follow the manager, whereas when he was at Madrid, some just played their own game.

"How will that be at Chelsea if there are some bigger names on bench and not playing in Europe? I think as a manager you have to be really thoughtful of your choices."
