Liverpool injury news on Mo Salah, Alexander Isak, Alisson Becker, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate.

Arne Slot has provided a Liverpool injury update ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea at Anfield.

A win for the Reds will secure Champions League qualification for next season. But they also have to bounce back after a 3-2 loss at the hands of fierce foes Manchester United last weekend.

Liverpool were without a plethora of senior players at Old Trafford - including Mo Salah and Alexander Isak. Salah, who will leave Anfield at the end of the season, has been struggling with a hamstring issue. Meanwhile, Isak - signed for a British record fee of £125m in the summer transfer window - picked up a groin issue, having recently recovered from a broken leg.

Isak is back training but Salah is likely to miss out against Chelsea. Head coach Slot said at his pre-match press conference: “Alex trained with us again, only yesterday for the first time. He did parts of it and hopefully he can do part or all of it today and let’s see how much we can use him tomorrow. Mo has not trained yet but is getting very, very close.”

Liverpool have been without their first and second-choice goalkeepers for the past two games. Alisson Becker, who has missed eight matches, is still recovering from a hamstring issue but Giorgi Mamardashvili - who suffered a nasty wound in the 2-1 win over Everton last month - is due to train today (Friday). Slot added: “Alisson, not yet but is getting close, Giorgi will train today.”

Slot also explained why Ibrahima Konate and Florian Wirtz were absent from training earlier this week. “Ibou [Konate] had a personal reason for not training on Wednesday but was yesterday and today again and Florian [Wirtz] was a bit unwell but trained yesterday also,” said Anfield chief Slot.

Hugo Ekitike (Achilles), Wataru Endo (ankle), Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni (both knee), Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic (both hamstring) remain unavailable.
