Stefon Diggs NFL free agent sweepstakes has 3 teams that make sense

Stefon Diggs is still very good at football. No, he’s no longer a superstar or the explosive player he once was, but Diggs is still a solid NFL receiver. For the seventh time in the last eight years, Diggs surpassed the 1,000-yard mark while playing all 17 games.

Instead of a big play, downfield threat, Diggs was more of a possession threat with 85 catches, on 102 targets, for 1,013 yards and just four touchdowns. For his troubles, Diggs was released by the New England Patriots this offseason after his first year with the team. The transaction was clearly related to Diggs’ salary cap hit, and now he’s in search of his fifth NFL team. It likely will be a one year, salary cap friendly contract, who will it be? Where will Diggs be playing football in 2026?

Baltimore Ravens

Things have gotten very thin from a receiving perspective for the Ravens. Isaiah Likely is now a New York Giant, and there’s a legitimate drop-off after Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews.

Rashad Bateman has proven to be a solid receiver, but he’s not someone to trust as a number two receiver. Diggs could easily step in for a veteran team in need of another receiving threat.

Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor, and Jack Bech. Is that any way to treat Francisco Mendoza and welcome the number one overall pick to the NFL? Even if it’s Kirk Cousins under center, at least initially, it’s simply not good enough. Adding Diggs could make a big difference here.

New England Patriots

Sometimes, the easiest and most common-sense answer is the best answer. We already know that Diggs has chemistry with Drake Maye and that he fits in with the Patriots in New England. If it works, why should we deviate?

Diggs was acquitted of all charges, and there’s nothing stopping the Patriots from bringing Diggs back on a team-friendly contract. I’m not sure that Romeo Doubs will truly be confused with a number one receiver, not like Diggs is either, but the Patriots didn’t do enough at the wide receiver position this offseason.
