Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has admitted that he will address vulnerabilities in the transfer market this summer after acknowledging the weaknesses shown against Manchester United.

There are just three games remaining this season for Liverpool, who are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification despite suffering defeat against United. Liverpool lost 3-2 to United at Old Trafford, but were dominated for large parts of the game.

Liverpool was missing key players, with Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson all sidelined through injury. Isak will be available to face Chelsea on Saturday, but with Salah leaving this summer and Alisson linked with a move away, Slot has vowed to solve issues in the transfer market.

"In moments, we have been vulnerable to counterattacks," Slot said in his pregame press conference on Friday. "At United, we conceded two counterattacks and a goal, but I don’t think that's been our only vulnerability.

"It will also help if we score more goals because controlling a game from a two-goal lead is easier than being behind or level. It is a mix of everything.

"For me, it is clear what we need to improve, and we have tried to do that over the season. There have been ups and downs, but we will address it in the summer, on the market, and on the training ground."

Liverpool has struggled to adjust after a summer overhaul, which saw Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez depart the club. Major assets were brought in, including Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz.

More change is coming after Salah announced he would leave the club this summer, and Andy Robertson will follow him out the door. Slot doesn't anticipate this summer will be as hectic, but admits another transition will take place.

"It will be a little transition this summer, maybe not as drastic as last year, but we have to change some personnel due to the players leaving," Slot said. "Robbo will probably be replaced by Kostas Tsimikas as he will come back from his loan.

"It depends on who we bring in and how things will look next season. But there are definitely things we need to improve."

Liverpool needs four points to mathematically guarantee a Champions League place for next season. Beating Chelsea would put Liverpool on the verge, and they face Aston Villa on the road next Friday.

The final game of the season is at home to Brentford, but Isak should be back to lead the line. "Alex trained with us again yesterday for the first time," Slot said.

"All good. He did parts of it, hopefully he can do parts or everything today and we see how much we are going to use him."
