Liverpool have their eyes on Colombian youngster Matías Lozano, who currently plays for Atlético Nacional.
Journalist Alexis Rodríguez and Win Sports report that Liverpool are closely monitoring the 17-year-old midfielder ahead of a possible move.
Liverpool watching closely
The website explains that Matías Lozano is one of Atlético Nacional’s rising stars and could be one of the ‘next great exports of Colombian soccer’.
The youngster has been earning a rising reputation in his homeland and, this has apparently not gone unnoticed on Merseyside.
According to journalist Alexis Rodríguez, Liverpool at closely monitoring the 17-year-old’s development this season.
“Liverpool is keeping an eye on Nacional’s midfielder, Matías Lozano (17 years old),” he posted on X.
Win Sport then add that Liverpool are known for scouting young talents with international potential and the Colombian Professional Football League is often a ‘sought-after market’. Lozano could be the latest to benefit from the attention.
The website then provides a short profile on the youngster. They say that he has been praise for his ‘technique, vision and ability to operate effectively’ in midfield.
They also insist that his profile fits the type of play who typically attracts interest in ‘competitive markets’. He is young, with room for growth and is developing at a club with a ‘rich history’.
Atlético Nacional to the Premier League
That last part certainly has some truth to it. Over the last 10 years, Atlético Nacional have sold player’s such as Jhon Solís, Marlos Moreno, Davinson Sánchez, Yerson Mosquera and Daniel Muñoz to the European market.
Mosquera and Moreno were sold to the Premier League directly. The likes of Sánchez and Muñoz ended up there via the Netherlands and Belgium respectively. But it does show that the Colombian side know how to develop talent.
Now Matías Lozano may be the latest to join the list. Liverpool are certainly watching the 17-year-old’s progress with the Colombian side closely.
