Former Florida K Trey Smack signs rookie deal with Green Bay Packers

New Green Bay and former Florida kicker **[Trey Smack](https://247sports.com/Player/Trey-Smack-46117657)** has signed his rookie contract with the Packers, the club announced.

According to Spotrac, Smack's projected total contract value for being selected No. 216 overall in the sixth round is $4.45 million, including an average annual value of $1.12 million and a $206,539 signing bonus.

Smack served as the Gators' primary kicker for the previous three seasons, a role he stepped into early in the 2023 campaign after an initial competition at the position.

In 2023, Smack handled kick-off duties, field goals and extra-point attempts for the Gators and had notable success from the jump, converting all 29 of his extra points and converting 17 of his 21 field goal attempts.

In 2024, Smack remained in his starting role and continued his unblemished play on extra points, converting all 44 of his attempts while connecting on 18 of 21 field goal tries, with a long of 55 yards.

Smack would go on to set the program record for most field goals made of 50 yards or more in 2025, with 10 after converting a 54-yarder in his final-ever collegiate contest, UF's victory over Florida State.

While Smack ultimately missed his first and only extra point attempt during his senior season, and uncharacteristically missed three field goal attempts in the season-opener against Long Island, he finished the campaign strong, going 18-of-22 on field goal tries the rest of the way.

Smack finished his Florida career 53-of-64 (82.3 percent) on field goal attempts and 100-of-101 (99 percent) on extra point kicks.

Considering Green Bay not only picked a kicker during the draft process, but also traded up to take him, Smack appears destined to take over as the Packers' starting kicker.

The Packers can release incumbent starting kicker Brandon McManus in June with a salary cap loss of only $55,000. The 34-year-old McManus received a three-year contract extension during the 2025 offseason, but went 24-of-30 (80 percent) on field goal attempts last season, and missed two field goals and an extra point during Green Bay's 31-27, NFC Wild Card loss to the Chicago Bears in January.

Green Bay special teams coordinator Cam Achord praised Smack for his consistent accuracy in the 50-yard range after the Packers secured his services.

"Straight ball, accuracy," Achord said of Smack. "His ball doesn't move a lot.

"I don't need a guy that can kick 65 yards personally. I want the guy that's going to put it through consistently from 58, 55, because again, we're playing in Green Bay, whether I was coaching New England, coaching at MetLife. We're going to play in elements and it's not you're not going to need the 60-yard ball all the time. You're going to need the 45-yard ball with a 14 mph crosswind. So his ball not moving and stuff like that was definitely a big part for me."
