Omar Khan Gives Update On Aaron Rodgers Decision: ‘Don’t Know Where He Is At This Moment’

It was reported on Thursday that free agent QB Aaron Rodgers was going to be in Pittsburgh over the weekend to meet with the front office and potentially finalize a contract for the 2026 season. Appearing on You Better You Bet on BetMGM Radio, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan didn’t outright deny that was the case, but said he wasn’t sure where Rodgers was, potentially implying he’s not in Pittsburgh.

“I don’t know where, specifically, Aaron is. I can tell you that Aaron and I, and coach and Aaron, and Aaron’s representatives have had good conversations since the season ended and since Mike [McCarthy] got hired. It’s been positive, but, yeah, I don’t know where he is at this moment.”

Khan was very particular about his word choice, noting he doesn’t know where Rodgers is “specifically” and “at this moment.” That doesn’t mean that Rodgers isn’t in Pittsburgh to meet with the Steelers. The rest of his answer was similar to the message that he’s conveyed all offseason. The Steelers and Rodgers have had good conversations and they’re keeping a dialogue open, and Mike McCarthy has been in contact with Rodgers throughout the offseason.

Of course, if Rodgers is in Pittsburgh, the odds of a deal becoming official are much higher, if not this weekend than in the near future. If Rodgers isn’t, and the two sides are having the same sort of discussion that’s been going on all offseason, then it could be a bit under Rodgers officially puts pen to paper.

There’s been enough credible reporting that the two sides are meeting this weekend, which coupled with Khan’s coy answer make it seem as if the two sides will look to hammer out a contract in the next few days. It’ll be a storyline to watch for along with rookie minicamp, which begins today for the Steelers, giving the team the first chance to look at players like Max Iheanachor and Drew Allar.
