Tsimikas in Slot’s plans, 7 injury updates & dressing room ‘faith’ – Latest LFC News

Kostas Tsimikas‘ role next season has been hinted at by Arne Slot, who also offered an extensive injury update for seven of his first-team players.

Kostas Tsimikas plan hinted at by Arne Slot

Liverpool will lose Andy Robertson in the summer, leaving them short at left-back. Tsimikas, however, will return from his loan spell at Roma, and Slot has hinted at the role he will play.

When speaking about the summer and another squad transition, Slot said: “Indeed it will be another little transition, probably not as drastic as it was last summer.

“But we have to change a bit of personnel because of the two players who are leaving.

“One of them will probably be replaced with Kostas Tsimikas, because he’s coming back from loan.”

While it still leaves the door ajar for that to change, Slot namechecked Tsimikas without being prompted, signalling the club’s intention of having the Greek international act as Milos Kerkez‘s backup.

Tsimikas reportedly wants to stay at Liverpool and compete for a spot, which would ensure the club do not need to source a left-back with their priorities clearly elsewhere this summer.

Would that be the right move, or do you see the club looking for a centre-back who can also play at left-back?

• Alexander Isak and Giorgi Mamardashvili are in line to return to the squad as long as they successfully complete training on Friday, but it’s still too soon for Mo Salah and Alisson.

• Florian Wirtz and Ibrahima Konate are also expected to be available after missing a training session earlier in the week, Arne Slot confirmed.

• There was also a rare update on Conor Bradley, who may not be ready for the first day of pre-season due to his serious knee injury. Let’s hope it’s not one that gets continually pushed back.

• Dominik Szoboszlai insists Slot has not lost the dressing room, having shown he is capable of winning the title. It’s not quite the same feeling among supporters!

• **Alexis Mac Allister**‘s father and agent has explained he is not holding any talks over a possible move away due to the “respect” for Liverpool’s fans – at least someone understands.

• There could be a final day scenario that sees Brentford want to LOSE against Liverpool to clinch a Champions League spot – that would make for quite the game…

10 homegrown transfer targets for Liverpool

Liverpool could be sleepwalking into something of a homegrown headache, and Adam Beattie has taken a look at 10 options the club could consider to bolster their squad.

Who is he talking about here?:

“Perhaps the most fanciful of the lot, but almost certainly the most glamorous. Despite choosing to represent France on the international stage, he qualifies as homegrown and would add a level of star quality almost impossible to find elsewhere.

“Setting aside the inevitably extortionate cost, Liverpool’s unforeseen 2025/26 slide makes a deal more difficult to envisage than it might otherwise have been.”

• Real Madrid‘s Federico Valverde has insisted that Aurelien Tchouameni did not hit him during a dressing room altercation, reports suggested otherwise! What a club, eh…

• Pep Guardiola is hopeful Rodri will be fit for Man City‘s fixture against Brentford after missing the costly draw against Everton. Why did the Blues only now decide to play a role in the title race?

Liverpool FC: On this day

Liverpool team group: (back row, l-r) Albert Stubbins, Eddie Spicer, Laurie Hughes, Cyril Sidlow, Bill Jones, Bob Paisley (front row, l-r) Jimmy Payne, Kevin Baron, Phil Taylor, Cyril Done, Billy Liddell

It was on this day in 1939 that Liverpool signed a future legend, with Bob Paisley arriving from Bishop Auckland.

His signing-on fee was only £10 and he earned £5 per week. That’s equivalent to £575 and £287, respectively in 2026. Talk about a bargain!

Paisley played 277 games for the club before becoming part of the backroom staff, first as a physiotherapist, then a reserve team coach, a first-team trainer, an assistant manager and then manager.

He succeeded Billy Shankly in 1974 and became one of the most successful managers in English football.
