Giselle’s husband, Laddyan Perry, told WSB-TV and Atlanta News First that she had dropped her mother off at the Kroger and had been waiting in the parked car for her when the incident happened.
Surveillance video obtained by Atlanta News First showed a car speeding through the parking lot before hitting Perry’s vehicle parked near the entrance. A photo also obtained by the outlet showed the car’s driver side totaled with a large dent in the middle of the car.
According to WSB-TV the impact from the crash sent other cars onto the sidewalk and injured another pedestrian. DeKalb County Police told the outlet that the person on the sidewalk and driver of the car that initiated the crash were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
PEOPLE reached out to the DeKalb County Police Department for comment on the incident, but they did not immediately respond.
Tony Lackey, a barber who worked nearby and witnessed the incident, told Atlanta News First: “We seen and heard the car coming and two seconds later, boom, a loud bang and all of us ran down there and checked it out and it was horrible.”

“It looked like two of the cars had been in an explosion, like the car that she hit was t-boned because it was parked right there and brought all the way to the wall,” Lackey added.
Laddyan described his wife to the outlet as “great, gorgeous, everything that’s good” and said that she had been a big supporter of her two nephews, Atlanta Falcons players A.J. and Avieon Terrell.
The two football players shared their own tributes to their aunt on social media. A.J., 27, shared a black-and-white photo of himself with his arms around his aunt to his Instagram Stories, with the words “I can still hear you.”

Tyeisha Wilson, whose mother was the driver of the car involved in the crash, told WSB-TV that her mother “blacked out while she was driving and she didn’t even know what was happening.”
She placed flowers outside the supermarket in memory of Giselle, saying, “I wanted to say my condolences and leave flowers for the woman. I’m really sorry about what happened… but I just wish things could have happened differently.”
