Former Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill remains without a team as the NFL offseason rolls on, and while his on-field future continues to draw speculation, there are far more pressing matters surrounding the wide receiver at this stage.
Off the field, Hill’s ongoing civil legal battle with OnlyFans model Sophie Hall has been steadily progressing. Hall filed the lawsuit in early 2024, alleging that Hill fractured her right leg during backyard football drills at his Southwest Ranches, Florida, home in June 2023, with claims including battery, assault, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

This week, both parties appeared in court as the case moved into a critical phase. A clip circulating online, shared by MLFootball on X, showed Hill dressed in a white shirt as he took his seat alongside his legal team in the courtroom. Hall was also present with her own legal team.
A jury was seated in Broward County Circuit Court on May 6, 2026, for the civil trial, with Judge David Haimes addressing nearly 100 potential jurors and outlining Hall’s claim that she was injured during drill activities at Hill’s home. Hall’s attorneys questioned jurors on their ability to remain impartial and their views on large civil judgments.

Hall first connected with Hill in May 2023 when her son attended his football camp in Boca Raton. According to the lawsuit, Hill began messaging her on Instagram the same day she enrolled her son. He later flew Hall to South Florida, covering her travel costs. She arrived at his Southwest Ranches home on June 28, 2023. Hill invited her to join offensive line drills with him in his backyard that afternoon, which his mother, sister, trainer, and a friend were watching from the yard.
The lawsuit states Hall pushed Hill off balance during the first drill repetition, causing onlookers to laugh. Hall’s attorneys claim Hill became angry after being knocked off balance by a woman in front of his family and trainer. The suit claims Hill then charged at Hall with force, fracturing her right leg. Hall underwent surgery with metal hardware implantation and now attends weekly physical therapy. She continues to experience persistent pain and instability, per court filings. Hill was still a Dolphin when Hall filed the lawsuit in February 2024, and Miami Dolphins GM Chris Grier confirmed the team was aware of it.
Hill’s legal team denied every allegation. His attorneys said Hall assumed the risk by participating in physical football drills. They argued she tripped over Hill’s dog, Chapo, and that her injuries were pre-existing. In his December 2023 deposition, Hill confirmed he viewed Hall’s content online before contacting her on Instagram and acknowledged touching her chest during the drill, describing it as similar to getting underneath an opponent’s shoulder pads. A judge denied Hall’s request for a court-ordered psychological evaluation in March 2026, giving Hill’s team a procedural win ahead of trial.
Hall is seeking up to $50,000 in damages in this civil proceeding. Her complaint lists assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence as the causes of action. Hill has not faced any criminal charges in connection with the incident. Jury selection was completed Wednesday, and Judge Haimes is overseeing the proceedings in Fort Lauderdale. The trial is expected to last between seven and ten days.
This case is not Hill’s only active legal matter. His divorce from ex-wife Keeta Vaccaro was finalized in 2025 after she filed following a domestic dispute in April of that year. A court ordered Hill to pay $500,000 upfront and between $20,000 and $50,000 per month. Vaccaro also filed separate allegations of physical abuse during their 17-month marriage, which Hill denied through his attorney, Julius B. Collins, calling the claims part of a coordinated effort to extract an unwarranted settlement.
Tyreek Hill’s legal issues could complicate his NFL return
Tyreek Hill’s NFL career with Miami ended after four seasons, spanning 2022 through 2025. He led the league in receiving yards in 2023 with 1,799 yards but managed only 265 yards in 2025 before the ACL injury ended his year in Week 4.
The legal proceedings have brought renewed attention to the case at a difficult time for Hill’s free agency. With opening statements set for Thursday and a jury already seated, the Sophie Hall civil trial enters its most consequential phase. The eventual verdict could significantly impact Hill’s chances of returning to an NFL roster.
Hill has a career résumé that includes eight Pro Bowl selections, a Super Bowl title with the Kansas City Chiefs and more than 11,000 receiving yards. His on-field case for a roster spot in 2026 is strong if his ACL recovery goes well. But the Sophie Hall civil trial, running simultaneously with his free agency, gives teams another reason to hesitate before signing him.
The Dolphins released him in February 2026 as a cost-cutting move following back-to-back seasons that ended without a playoff appearance. He remains unsigned as the 2026 NFL offseason continues.
