The Cleveland Browns have only made the playoffs twice during Myles Garrett’s time with the franchise. He has been with the team since 2017 and was the number one overall pick by Cleveland from the Texas A&M Aggies. Garrett has lived up to his hype during his career.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) is pursued by Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (95) in the first quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium in Downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.
He had 23 sacks last season for the Browns and broke Michael Strahan’s sack record in a single season. Garrett has won back-to-back defensive player of the year awards. He is no doubt the best defensive player in the NFL right now. Garrett is only 30 years old. He is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The former Aggies player can very well continue to ramp his sack totals for the rest of his career.

Profootballfocus.com writer Bradley Locker wrote about which current NFL players are on track to make the hall of fame. Well, he thinks that Garrett does not have to play another down in his NFL career and he would be a hall of famer. Locker said,
“It’s rare to be a certified Hall-of-Famer by age 30 — but like Mahomes, Garrett has been in a tier of his own. Since 2017, the former first overall pick has been a first-team All-Pro five times and claimed two Defensive Player of the Year honors. More cumulatively, Garrett’s 4.20 WAR easily leads all edge defenders since his debut, and his 95.2 overall PFF grade is the best at his position.
Having been arguably the best defensive player in football for the last nine years, Garrett already has a gilded resume and is showing no signs of slowing down.”
Garrett in his career has 412 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and 18 pass deflections. His sacks totals are tied for 20th all time with Dwight Freeney. If Garrett continues to produce elite production for the Browns for the next several years, he can be in the top five in sacks for all-time. If he gets more than 16.5 sacks in 2026, he will surpass Strahan for sixth all time and the former New York Giants star had 141.5 total sacks in his NFL career. Garrett is one of the greatest pass rushers that the league may ever know.
