Former Florida P Tommy Doman signs rookie deal with Buffalo Bills

New Buffalo and former Florida punter Tommy Doman has signed his rookie contract with the Bills, the club announced.

According to Spotrac, Doman's projected total contract value for being selected No. 239 overall in the seventh round is $4.38 million, including an average annual value of $1.09 million and a $132,177 signing bonus.

Doman was the Gators' first addition via the transfer portal in the aftermath of the 2024 season, joining UF as a graduate transfer for his final season of collegiate eligibility after four seasons at Michigan.

Doman secured Florida's starting punter role in 2025, replacing 2025 NFL Draft pick Jeremy Crawshaw, and appeared in all 12 games. He punted 50 times for 2,202 yards with a long of 71 yards. Seventeen of his punts finished inside the 20-yard line, and 13 went for 50 or more yards.

Doman redshirted as a freshman before playing four games as a sophomore in 2022 with the Wolverines, where he handled placekicking duties and punted once.

As a junior, Doman punted, kicked off, and held in all 15 games as the Wolverines secured the 2023 national championship. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt with a 71-yard long on 53 punts and was named an All-Big Ten Third Team selection by the coaches by season's end.

In 2024, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Doman saw his statistics dip slightly, averaging 42.6 yards per punt.

"I think playing in both the SEC and the Big 10 has made me a more well-rounded player," Doman said, via BuffaloBills.com. "Playing in the Big 10, there's a lot of stadiums where it's very open, very windy, very cold, so you have to be more efficient and less flashy. So, it's like putting away your ego and understanding that what the team needs from you is to be efficient.

"And then we go down the SEC, obviously, like things aren't as cold, but playing a top 10 team week in and week out, that type of pressure, punt after punt, not just punting three times a game, you're punting five to seven times a game, and having to string together a lot of good punts to continuously help your team throughout the game. And even just to put them in position to win, it's not like you're running away from it. It's not like you're really far down. Like you're still in it. And that's how the NFL is."

The fact that Buffalo spent a draft resource to obtain Doman suggests he has a strong chance to earn the starting job as the Bills' punter.

The Bills re-signed 2025 starting punter Mitch Wishnowsky to a one-year, $1.48 million deal this offseason, after he averaged a quality 45.3 yards per attempt last year. But only $150,000 is fully guaranteed, making it an easy contract to move on from should Doman win the starting battle during the preseason.

Doman was the third member of Florida's 2026 NFL Draft class to sign with their club, following Green Bay Packers kicker Trey Smack and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Devin Moore.
