Jets’ Aaron Glenn skirts question about possibly signing Russell Wilson

The New York Jets want to come into next season with a fresh slate at the quarterback position, and it seems like they accomplished that during the offseason. After acquiring Geno Smith, they traded up in the draft to select Cade Klubnik, and that's already two new quarterbacks for the season.

It wouldn't hurt if the Jets added one more veteran to their roster, and Aaron Glenn was asked about the possibility of signing Russell Wilson.

“We're talking to a number of veteran quarterbacks,” Glenn said. “I'm happy with our quarterback room. Obviously, you guys know how I feel about Geno and getting the chance to get Cade, a guy that we traded up for, and allowed him to get these reps, that's something we look forward to.

“There's no information to give you guys on that, but other than that, me and Mougey are going to go through the process no matter what.”

Wilson wouldn't be a bad addition to the quarterback room for the Jets, as he's shown throughout the last few seasons that he can be a serviceable option when his number is called. His stint with the New York Giants didn't end well, but maybe a change of scenery could help the veteran.

There's no surprise that Glenn didn't offer any more details about adding a quarterback, but he did note that they were talking to a few. Wilson was definitely in that conversation after he had a meeting with them recently, but it also has to be something that both sides agree on.

Wilson could feel like he's still a starter in the league, but the Jets may see him as a backup. That alone could make him want to look elsewhere, and the Jets would have to do their due diligence on other quarterbacks.

It will be interesting to see what other moves the Jets decide to make at the position.
