The Packers Make Surprise Release After 2026 NFL Draft

A quad injury disrupted Brandon McManus’ performance last year, but he also struggled when he was healthy. His field goal accuracy was 80.0%, and most of his missed kicks came during games in which the Packers lost by three points or fewer.

A $1 million roster bonus was paid to McManus by Green Bay in March, however, a sixth round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was used to select Florida’s Trey Smack.

It was reported on Friday that McManus had been released:

After drafting Florida kicker Trey Smack in the sixth round last month, the Packers released veteran kicker Brandon McManus today, per source.

At Florida, Smack made 82.8% of his kicks, and he converted 100 out of 101 extra point attempts during his career. As far as the Packers are concerned, he appears to be their man moving forward.
