I couldn’t tell you why, but rookie jersey numbers are always a big topic of curiosity among fans. The Jets have announced the initial jersey numbers the eight players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft will wear to begin their respective NFL careers.
David Bailey will wear number 31.
Kenyon Sadiq will wear number 16.
Omar Cooper will wear number 83.
D’Angelo Ponds will wear number 23.
Darrell Jackson, Jr. will wear number 78.
Cade Klubnik will wear number 10.
Anez Cooper will wear number 72
VJ Payne will wear number 34.
It is possible some of these numbers change between now and Week 1. With offseason rosters expanded to 90 players, there isn’t much jersey number inventory available. After cutdown day, rosters revert to 53 players, which makes news numbers available. Often a rookie will switch his number as this happens.
But for now these are the number assignments for the Jets rookie class of 2026.
