Liverpool have plenty of problems to solve when the transfer window opens, with the summer potentially proving decisive for Arne Slot’s tenure.
It is expected to be another busy window for FSG, who may prioritise the signing of a central defender if Ibrahima Konate departs. While recent reports suggest the Frenchman could stay and sign a new deal, nothing has been confirmed and concerns remain.
Providing an update on his future, Konate said last month: “There are many things people have said but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are close to an agreement.
“I think everyone wished for that for as soon as possible but we are in a good way.” He added: “For sure, there is a big chance that I’m here next season. This is what I’ve always wanted.
“I’m waiting to sort the contract but when everything is sorted you will have to ask Richard what I said to him in September, November before everyone talked about everything and he’s going to say something to make everyone quiet. When he’s going to reply, you will see. I just wish that.”
With Virgil van Dijk also likely to leave when his contract expires next summer, Liverpool could be facing a significant defensive rebuild.
The club are set to welcome Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennaisafter reaching an agreement with the Ligue 1 side for the highly rated centre-back.
Meanwhile, Pierre Kalulu of Juventus has also emerged as a target for Liverpool this summer. According to Tutto Juve, Liverpoolare preparing to launch a serious offer to sign Kalulu from Juventusas they look to address their centre-back issues.
Despite Juventus struggling to meet expectations this season, Kalulu has impressed enough to attract Liverpool’s attention. The Frenchman has racked up 46 appearances, netted twice, and provided seven assists across all competitions for Juve this season.
The Serie A giants, who are fourth in the league table, are working on an ambitious plan to strengthen their squad for next season, but several moves are expected to depend on potential player sales.
Kalulu is among the players most likely to attract major offers, with his performances drawing attention from multiple European scouts. Kalulu is seen both as an important part of the club’s project and a potential source of significant transfer income.
Liverpool are not the only side interested, with other top English clubs also monitoring the defender closely ahead of the summer window. Juventus now face a decision over whether to resist strong interest from England or cash in if a substantial offer arrives, with much depending on their broader transfer strategy.
Kalulu is increasingly viewed as one of the standout defensive targets ahead of the summer window, with Liverpool aiming to move early in an attempt to stay ahead of the competition.
