The New Orleans Saints came into the 2026 NFL offseason with a very clear need for another wide receiver opposite Chris Olave.
In the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, they found their guy in Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson. At No. 8 overall, the Saints had their new WR2.
ESPN's Matt Bowen called Tyson one of his top-15 best fits from the 2026 NFL Draft and revealed two reasons why the new Saints receiver is such a good fit with his new NFL offense.
2 reasons why Jordyn Tyson is a good fit in Saints' offense
1. Tyson is a great compliment to Chris Olave
"Pairing Tyson with Chris Olave in New Orleans gives coach Kellen Moore two big-play targets on the perimeter," Bowen writes. "Plus, Tyson can line up all over the field and has the skill set to shake up man coverage."
With the Saints needing to give Tyler Shough as good a receiver corps as possible, pairing Tyson with Olave will allow Shough to throw to two elite targets on the outside.
But, Tyson can move around as well and give defenses fits with his ability to create explosives for the Saints' offense. He's a high-upside target and a great complement opposite of Olave.

2. Tyson thrives where Shough thrives
"In Shough's last six starts, he had over a 96 WBR on in-breakers and crossers," Bowen writes. "These are rhythm throws that cater to Tyson's willingness to work the dirty areas of the field, along with his catch-and-run traits."
While this wasn't the sole reason for the Saints taking Tyson, his ability to thrive on routes that Shough also thrives at is a reason to be excited.
Shough has success on crossers and in-breakers, just as Tyson has had success in college on the same routes. This alone would make this a great fit, as this is exactly what Shough needed in the offense.

Tyson isn't simply just a good fit in the Saints offense as a team that needed another good receiver. He's a great compliment to Olave in the WR room, is someone Moore can use creatively, and is also a fantastic match with his new QB.
The goal of the 2026 NFL season for the Saints is to see if Shough can truly be the franchise guy. Giving him Tyson, along with the rest of the new-look offense, gives him ample resources to succeed.
