Tottenham are keen on bringing in additional attacking reinforcements in the summer.
Tottenham’s need for a new striker appears increasingly urgent. The Lilywhites have done well to pull themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone following an impressive away victory against Aston Villa last weekend. It now seems that Roberto de Zerbi has finally managed to steer the club in the right direction, bringing renewed confidence and belief to the squad. However, the North Londoners must retain their top-flight status if they are to attract top-quality players in the summer.
Spurs are in desperate need of signing a new striker who can compete with Dominic Solanke for a place in the starting eleven. The England international’s second season at N17 has already been disrupted by multiple injuries. That said, Solanke performed well during the limited game time he received since the turn of the year. However, the prolific striker has now been ruled out with a hamstring injury, sidelining him for the remainder of the campaign.
On the other hand, Richarlison has been one of the standout performers for the Lilywhites this season. He has enjoyed a consistent run in the starting eleven, scoring ten goals and providing four assists in the Premier League. Spurs remain in the fight for survival largely due to his contributions this campaign. However, the Brazil international’s future remains uncertain, with recent reports linking the prolific forward to a potential return to Everton in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham could move for Al-Hilal outcast Darwin Nunez
It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are aiming to sign a new striker in the coming months. The Lilywhites cannot head into next season with the same group of centre-forwards if they are serious about competing at the top end of the Premier League table. They require someone with a strong injury record and the ability to elevate the quality of the squad in the final third under Roberto de Zerbi. That is why the North Londoners continue to target players capable of making an immediate impact at N17.
Recent reports have linked Spurs with Al-Hilal star Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international has fallen down the pecking order at the Saudi club since Karim Benzema’s arrival in January. Given the restrictions surrounding overseas player registrations, the prolific striker has even been left out of the league matchday squad. As a result, the former Liverpool forward is reportedly willing to accept a pay cut on his £400,000-per-week wages if the right opportunity presents itself.

Spurs have now received a major boost in their pursuit of Nunez. As per Ben Jacobs (via X), Darwin Nunez’s potential departure from Al-Hilal has reached an advanced stage. The Saudi giants are looking to cash in on a player who has lost his place in the starting eleven since the turn of the year. Meanwhile, the Uruguay international is eager to revive his career by securing a move back to one of Europe’s top leagues, handing the Lilywhites an opportunity to lure him to N17 in the coming months.
A good fit at Tottenham?
Roberto de Zerbi prefers his striker to be versatile and aggressive when pressing from the front. He expects his centre-forwards to constantly apply pressure on opposition defenders without the ball. In addition, the number nine must possess strong positional awareness in order to exploit channels and break defensive lines, something many Premier League teams rely on. That is where Darwin Nunez could prove highly effective should he join the club in the summer.
The main concern, however, is that Nunez has not replicated the level of consistency he showed during his time at Benfica. The prolific striker has often appeared misprofiled, and it is also evident that he never fully adapted to the physical demands of the Premier League. As a result, signing the Uruguay international could prove to be a gamble, especially given that the Lilywhites require someone capable of making an immediate impact under Roberto de Zerbi at N17.
