The New York Jets have ushered in a boatload of changes throughout a busy 2026 NFL offseason. However, one key offensive position — running back — will look the same next season.

New York signed 2022 second-round draft pick Breece Hall, who eclipsed 1,000 yards on the ground last year for the first time in 2025, to a three-year, $45.75 million deal on Friday. The contract gives him the third-highest average annual value ($15.25 million) at the position, behind only superstars Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey.

Hall, 24, was the subject of trade rumors throughout a disastrous 3-14 Jets campaign. After news of his contract was official, he posted a pair of heartfelt messages for supporters on X.

"Shoutout everyone in my corner. Lot of work left to do. God Bless #Jets," Hall tweeted immediately after the news broke. He followed up with another post shortly after.

"Cried for the first time since I tore my ACL. This day really hit different for me man," Hall wrote. An ACL tear abruptly ended his 2022 season.

Hall's contract includes $29 million in guarantees (almost all of which come in the first two years). He was set to play the 2026 campaign on the franchise tag — the first time New York used the tag since 2021 — before signing the new contract.

He rushed for a career-high 1,065 yards in 2025. His work in the passing game tailed off — he caught just 34 passes — but Hall's overall 83.5 PFF grade ranked 7th out of 55 qualified running backs.

New York hasn't won much since Hall's arrival, posting a paltry 22-46 record. However, the team made a slew of offseason moves in an effort to improve.

The Jets drafted defensive end David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, and receiver Omar Cooper in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The team also made plenty of moves via trade and during free agency.

New York re-acquired former second-round pick Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders to serve as their stopgap quarterback (the team will desperately want Arch Manning in the 2027 NFL Draft).

The Jets improved their defense by signing cornerback Nashon Wright, linebacker Demrio Davis, and defensive end David Onyemata, while trading for defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Hall will lead a running back room that features 2024 draft picks Braelon Allen (fourth-round pick) and Isaiah Davis (fifth).
