How Liverpool could line-up against Chelsea in the Premier League at Anfield.
Liverpool can virtually confirm Champions League qualification when they welcome Chelsea to Anfield.
The Reds are in fourth spot, six points above Bournemouth with three matches remaining, and a triumph will mean it’s highly unlikely they can be caught by the Cherries.
Arne Slot’s side have endured a lacklustre season as Premier League champions, having suffered 18 defeats in all competitions. Their latest loss arrived arrived in a 3-2 reverse at Manchester United last weekend.
Liverpool were depleted of options at Old Trafford and could again have limited players to face a Chelsea side in freefall. Mo Salah, Alisson Becker, Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni, Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns are all sidelined, while there is doubt over Alexander Isak and Girogi Mamardashvili.
With everything in mind, here’s how Liverpool could line-up.
GK- Giorgi Mamardashvili
The No.2 stopper has missed the past two games with a nasty wound but was due to return to training yesterday. If fit, he likely returns.
RB - Curtis Jones
The midfielder has made the position his own in recent games and was one of the few players who hit the required standard at Old Trafford.
CB - Ibrahima Konate
Missed training earlier this week for a personal reason but should be back involved.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Must set the standard for Liverpool to deliver victory.
LB - Milos Kerkez
Found himself on the bench in the last three games but a return is likely given he’s been first choice for much of the season.
CM - Ryan Gravenberch
Started virtually every game as Liverpool’s No.6 and must help win the battle against Chelsea’s biggest strength.
CM - Dominik Szoboszlai
Scored a superb goal at United and is poised to be names Player of the Year.
CM - Alexis Mac Allister
Came under the microscope for being at fault for two of United’s goals and has to bounce back.
RW - Jeremie Frimpong
Struggled against United but the lack of options mean that Frimpong is likely to continue.
ST - Cody Gakpo
Although Alexander Isak may return to fitness, he is unlikely to be fit to start so Gakpo will have to be a makeshift option.
LW - Rio Ngumoha
The 17-year-old was electric after coming off the bench against United and deserves his latest Premier League start.
Woodman, Gomez, Robertson, Mac Allister, Wirtz, Nyoni, Chiesa, Isak, Morrison.
