The latest Premier League transfer news including Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool and more

The weekend is here at last and we’re gearing up for another rip-roaring dose of Premier League action. Arsenal and Man City are set to resume their fierce title race, the relegation battle will continue to twist and turn as the likes of West Ham and Spurs look to avoid the drop, and pretty much everyone else is somehow still in contention to qualify for Europe.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window is just around the corner, and it’s set to be a fascinating few months as clubs look to get their business done. Half the league need a new left-back, plenty need to freshen up in the goalkeeping department, and Chelsea need to try and sign at least some players who aren’t still eligible for Kids Eat Free restaurant promotions.

The report says that Bayern have “made checks” on the England international as they look to find a new top quality full-back. It’s also noted that with just two years left on his current deal, Livramento is no closer to signing a new contract, which could put Newcastle in the position of having to sell soon so as to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer further down the line.

And there’s more! Vincent Kompany’s side are also supposedly be eyeing up left-back Lewis Hall, although Newcastle are likely to be far more robust in their attempts to keep him than they would be with Gordon or Livramento.

The 3AM Verdict: Three Magpies, Vincent? Three? That’s insane. There’s no way Bayern will sign the trio all in one go - Newcastle already have to figure out signing a new goalkeeper, centre-back and central midfielder this summer, and having to replace both their starting full-backs as well Gordon would be far too much change in one window.

Arsenal ‘on alert’ for out of favour Man City midfielder

Next up, it’s over to the Etihad Stadium, where Tijjani Reijnders is believed to be becoming increasingly fed up sitting on the Manchester City bench. A story from Caught Offside suggests that the Netherlands international will meet with the club at the end of the season, as they look to figure out whether his role for the side will change going forward.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Newcastle and AC Milan are all said to be keeping an eye on the situation, although the report does say that there’s currently no active push from the player to leave, or from the club to move him on. The 27-year-old is only just about to complete his first year at City, and still has four years left on his five year contract.

The 3AM Verdict: Call us cynics, but this story has a distinct ‘agent trying to get their unhappy client a summer move’ aroma to it. Reijnders would do well to be patient, however, as if Pep Guardiola does leave the club this summer, his replacement could well afford him a more regular starting role than he currently holds.

Liverpool linked with stunning Mbappe move

We’ll close proceedings at Real Madrid, where Kylian Mbappe’s high profile apparent falling out with various people connected to the club is said to have put Liverpool on “high alert”. Football Insider assert that Premier League clubs are “keeping an eye” on the situation and that he “could become a transfer target for Liverpool”

The report then takes us back in time to 2023, and states that the Reds were interested in the dynamic forward then, before he ended up moving to Los Blancos. It’s then noted that the club may well need to sign a new striker this summer, given Hugo Ekitike’s long-term injury, and Alexander Isak’s struggles since joining the club last summer.

The 3AM Verdict: This all feels seriously theoretical at the moment. Of course Liverpool would like to sign Kylian Mbappe - there isn’t a club in world football who wouldn’t like to sign Kylian Mbappe. Given that he earns somewhere in the region of £500k per week, we can’t see this one getting off the ground, especially with Isak already on the books.

That said, with Mohamed Salah’s massive salary set to come off the weekly wage bill, there just might be a way to manoeuvre things to provide the French superstar with a suitably attractive salary. Still, the transfer fee to sign him would presumably be enormous, andthe Reds have a lot of work to do to strengthen other areas of their squad this summer already. We just can’t see this one happening.
