Chelsea were left frustrated after Cole Palmer's second-half goal was ruled out for offside.
After Enzo Fernandez had cancelled out Ryan Gravenberch's opener, Calum McFarlane's side thought they had taken the lead in the 49th minute at Anfield.
The Premier League said in a tweet on X: "#LIVCHE – 49' VAR OVERTURN VAR checked the referee's call of goal - and established that Cucurella was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed."
