19yo Tottenham loanee, among the best XI players in Bundesliga this season, hotly pursued by…

‘This’ Tottenham defender has emerged on the radar of several elite European clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic has had a fantastic loan spell in the Bundesliga with SV Hamburger this campaign, scoring five goals in 26 appearances.

The Croatian international, who is Spurs’ second-most-valuable player, has been one of the standout defenders in the Bundesliga this season. The teenager’s impressive performances have brought him to the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe ahead of the summer window.

Tottenham fans remain worried that Luka Vuskovic would leave this summer without making a single appearance for their club, particularly as their place in the Premier League remains in doubt next season. However, with back-to-back wins over Wolves and Aston Villa, respectively, the North Londoners find themselves in a much stronger position to avoid relegation.

It recently emerged that Spurs’ sporting director, Johan Lange, travelled to Hamburg to hold personal talks with the central defender about his long-term future at the club. This comes amid Barcelona’s interest in Vuskovic. Sporting director Deco has had the player’s agent, Pini Zahavi, offer the player to the La Liga club.

Liverpool eyeing move for Luka Vuskovic

However, Barcelona aren’t the only club interested in signing the Tottenham talent. As per Football Insider’s transfer correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Vuskovic’s situation and could make a move. If he is allowed to leave Tottenham, the Merseyside giants will be ready to pounce and agree terms with the youngster.

“He’s been outstanding, one of the standout defenders in the Bundesliga for Hamburg this season,” Pete O’Rourke exclusively revealed on the Transfer Insider podcast (h/t Football Insider).

“Tottenham see him as a key part of their plans for the future, whatever league they’re in. You’ve had the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea all looking at Vuskovic ahead of the summer transfer window.

“Tottenham beat a host of clubs when they agreed to sign him as a youngster from Croatia, and next season could be a big opportunity for him to make an impact. Spurs wanted for him to get regular first-team football ready to come back and challenge for a place in the Tottenham side, and that’s what I fully expect him to do.”

A potential cornerstone for Tottenham’s defence

With the Croatian talent subject to major speculation, it appears as though Tottenham will have to ensure they maintain their top-flight status if they are to have any hope of keeping hold of Vuskovic.

The North Londoners remain extremely reluctant to sell the Split-born starlet, who is the most long-term defensive asset they currently possess. Tottenham have made their stance on Vuskovic clear via various media. They have big plans for his long-term future at N17. The N17 chiefs’ desperation to keep hold of the defender by offering him a massive salary hike further demonstrates that.

Vuskovic has shown exceptional aerial dominance, composure, reading of the game and an impressive ability to play out from the back for Hamburg. Having proven himself in the Bundesliga, Spurs fans are excited to see the big Croat don the famous white strips next season.
