Two FA Signings Get New Steelers Jersey Numbers

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie class received their new jersey numbers ahead of rookie minicamp Friday, and now two of their most recent veteran free agent signings also have new digits. OL Brock Hoffman and RB/ST Travis Homer’s jersey numbers were revealed via Steelers.com Saturday morning.

Brock Hoffman will wear No. 67 with the Steelers, keeping the number he wore for four years with the Dallas Cowboys. The number was last worn by OT Calvin Anderson in 2025, but was popularized in Pittsburgh by DL Gary Dunn in the 1970s and ’80s and by DL Kimo von Oelhoffen in the early 2000s.

Hoffman spent a few years with Mike McCarthy in Dallas, and will now compete for the vacant starting job at left guard with rookie draft pick Gennings Dunker and fourth-year veteran Spencer Anderson. With 16 NFL starts on his resume, Hoffman has as good a chance as any to win the starting job in Week 1, but should be pushed by Dunker sooner rather than later as a top 100 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Travis Homer will wear No. 21 with the Steelers. It’s the same number he wore with the Chicago Bears in 2025 after previously wearing No. 25 and No. 20 earlier in his NFL career. Chuck Clark wore No. 21 for the Steelers in 2025. Some other notable Steelers to wear the number over the years include CB Joe Haden (2017 only), RB Mewelde Moore, RB Amos Zereoue, and DB Eric Williams.

Homer’s roster spot isn’t a given, but he can fill two important roles for the Steelers. His primary use comes as a four-unit cornerstone of the special teams unit. He has experience playing upback, which the Steelers need after Miles Killebrew departed in free agency. He also provides veteran depth at running back, which boosts his case as the Steelers construct their initial 53-man roster.

TE Jaheim Bell is the last remaining player without a number listed on the Steelers’ roster.

As always—as Kaden Wetjen reminded us Friday night—don’t go out and buy jerseys until much later in the process. All numbers are subject to change, especially for depth players that join during the construction of the offseason 90-man roster.
