Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch was quick to praise Chelsea’s flexibility at Anfield, highlighting a dominant performance from two players in particular after the draw.
Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Anfield was a performance of grit and discipline that finally halted a damaging six-game losing streak. In the second half, the Blues looked structurally transformed in their back-three system, absorbing early pressure before Enzo Fernandez restored parity with a clever free-kick.
Levi Colwill was immense at the heart of the defence. At the same time, Marc Cucurella’s hybrid role caused Liverpool constant problems, even seeing a potential winner from Cole Palmer chalked off.
While a point at Anfield is usually cause for celebration, there was an underlying sense of what might have been. Chelsea were arguably the better side for large periods of the second half and, had Palmer’s strike stood, they could have walked away with all three points.

Peter Crouch praises Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill against Liverpool
Speaking directly after the game on TNT Sports, Peter Crouch was quick to give credit to Chelsea, rather than his former club Liverpool, highlighting the displays of Wesley Fofana and Colwill.
“Yeah, I think the two centre halves were fantastic tonight. Colwill especially, really, really strong. Cucurella, I feel like he didn’t know where he was playing at times. He was like the furthest man forward.
“And Joao Pedro’s got that real quality, I think, Enzo, Palmer. Chelsea will be far happier than Liverpool today.”
