Liverpool turned in yet another disappointing performance in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Chelsea.
Ryan Gravenberch gave the Reds a lead in the sixth minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, before Enzo Fernandez's low free-kick missed everyone to equalise late in the half. Both teams pushed for a winner in the second half, with Cole Palmer and Curtis Jones having goals disallowed, but the points were ultimately shared.
But it was yet another instance where Arne Slot looked out of his depth and clueless, and Liverpool fans were quick to let him know as they booed on the final whistle.
Liverpool Fans Have Had Enough of Slot
Liverpool manager Arne Slot points vs PSG
Reports have stated that Liverpool chiefs are planning to stick with Slot for the 2026/27 season, citing the fact he won the Premier League in his first season with the club as proof that he knows what he is doing and can have success again.
But his use of the squad, mixed with the fact that a large section of the fan base have turned on him, and he is struggling to get the best out of certain players while filling round holes with square pegs, suggests otherwise.
The team is playing boring, drab football, the attackers look lost, the midfield doesn't have any clear instructions, and the team look open defensively in every game. Something has to change, and the players have proven that they can have success in this league too.
It's also a rare summer where there are an abundance of options seemingly available in the manager market, with a number of top bosses leaving their current jobs, or expected to leave following the World Cup. That means FSG should be taking a close look at everyone, not just sticking with Slot because he's already at Anfield.
Iraola is Perfect for Liverpool
Andoni Iraola applauds Bournemouth supporters
The club have been heavily, and repeatedly linked with a move for former midfielder Xabi Alonso, but he isn't the only name available, and it seems as though FSG aren't overly keen on him anyway.
But one manager who is definitely available for the job if Liverpool make the switch this summer is Andoni Iraola, who has already announced that he will leave Bournemouth when the campaign ends and his contract expires.
He plays attacking football, likes to develop young talent, has great experience in the Premier League, and is ready to step up and bring fresh ideas to the squad. Jamie Redknapp has previously called him an 'elite' manager, and he has proven it.
Iraola would be better than Slot at this stage, and FSG wouldn't even need to stump up any cash to get a deal done. Slot needs to go, he's clearly not up to the task anymore. Iraola is ready to step in and take his spot.
