The Buffalo Bills have upgraded their wide receiver room this offseason, but the team could consider trading Joshua Palmer before the 2026 campaign. Buffalo took a chance on Palmer last year, but it’s easy to see why the Bills might’ve made the wrong decision. Palmer is coming off the campaign, producing a career-low 303 receiving yards. Although he was limited to 12 games, the receiver battled an ankle injury and was placed on injured reserve.
Joshua Palmer is still 26-years-old and has two years left on his contract. However, they traded for DJ Moore this offseason, which leaves the Bills paying him, leaning on Khalil Shakir and decided to keep Keon Coleman despite the trade rumors. Unless they trade Coleman, Palmer is likely the odd man out in this situation. The Bills drafted Skyler Bell while signing Trent Sherfield, and they have a lot of receiver depth in the likes of Tyrell Shavers and Mecole Hardman.
It wouldn’t be sensible to continue paying Palmer on his current contract. What the Bills could do is restructure his deal or completely trade him after June 1, which would save them $10.2 million.

Former Chargers Bust Joshua Palmer Named Trade Candidate This 2026 Season – 3 Possible Fits
The problem with a trade is that Joshua Palmer wouldn’t bring in much value. He’s not even a WR2, given that he hasn’t recorded a single 1,000-yard season. Palmer could still be a decent receiver for a team that needs someone reliable in the slot. The best bet for the Bills is to release him, so he could find the right offense where he could thrive.
He had potential with the Chargers, but the team decided to prioritize Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey. The sky is the limit for Palmer, so here are three teams that could roll the dice on him.
Next Possible Teams
Dallas Cowboys
Despite the team adding Marquez Valdes-Scantling, it might be worth the Dallas Cowboys signing Joshua Palmer if he becomes available. Dallas is bringing back George Pickens for one more season, but they didn’t get complacent with him and CeeDee Lamb. The team is rolling the dice on Ryan Flournoy, who broke out last season, to start as WR3. This is why they brought in Valdes-Scantling.
However, Valdes-Scantling hasn’t been the most ideal receiver in recent memory. Palmer may not have been healthy, but he’s probably more reliable and could battle for the WR4 slot this upcoming season.
Baltimore Ravens
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens might have to add another veteran to help Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman again. The team draftedJa’Kobi Lane, who could easily turn into the future of this fast-paced offense, but he’s going to go through growing pains. Joshua Palmer won’t be Odell Beckham or Nelson Agholor like the Ravens had before, but the offense would benefit from Palmer as a reliable slot receiver.
Indianapolis Colts
With Michael Pittman Jr. gone, there is an obvious hole in the Colts’ pass offense behind Josh Downs. The team extended Alec Pierce to a monster deal, but he probably won’t be ready for full-time work due to recovering from surgery. Joshua Palmer won’t be the long-term fit for the Colts, but it would help open up the field for Downs.
