Bills free agent Joey Bosa still lingers as 49ers loom

Joey Bosa is still a free agent.

He's part of a big crop of veterans who have yet to sign with a new NFL team this offseason.

That's often how it works. Guys like Bosa (and Stefon Diggs and Deebo Samuel and many more) don't have to rush it.

They know a team will eventually want them, and they also know they can keep an eye on various rosters to determine which openings will prove the most fruitful.

Bosa spent the 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills, but they appear to be content having moved on. They signed Bradley Chubb, and they also drafted T.J. Parker out of Clemson, so that seems to cover the edge rusher role pretty well.

He played 15 games for the Bills in 2025 and led the league in forced fumbles, with five. He totaled 5.0 sacks, as well.

Given that the Bills are probably moving on, Bosa has been connected frequently to the San Francisco 49ers. There, he'd get a chance to play with his brother Nick.

The 49ers also have the most cap space in the league. According to Spotrac, the 49ers have $67.4 million in available cap space.

Despite that, San Francisco hasn't been in a hurry to sign Bosa, or the other veterans, either.

Will they make a move? Or is someone different looming to eventually land Joey Bosa?

It's just one of a number of fascinating narratives remaining this offseason in the NFL.
