Man City claimed a crucial victory to keep their Premier League title hopes alive

Manchester City returned to winning ways against Brentford, claiming a 3-0 victory over Keith Andrews' side to pile pressure on leaders Arsenal ahead of their match on Sunday. All three goals came in the second half, with Jeremy Doku opening the scoring on the hour mark before Erling Haaland added a second and Omar Marmoush wrapped it up in stoppage time.

The result temporarily closes the gap to just two points, though Arsenal still hold a game in hand against Crystal Palace, which will be played next Wednesday (May 13).

Arsenal resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday, with a trip to West Ham at the London Stadium, before finishing the season with fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Here, the Daily Star takes a look at the latest in the Premier League title race.

Man City pile on pressure

After dropping crucial points in the 3-3 draw at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, City needed a swift response to keep the pressure on Arsenal heading into the final two weeks of the season.

Arsenal know they cannot afford any slip‑ups and must win all three of their remaining games to give themselves any chance of lifting the Premier League title. As things stand, they sit on 76 points to Manchester City's 74 - a gap that could stretch to four if the Gunners beat West Ham at the London Stadium.

Bernardo Silva escapes punishment

The Portuguese midfielder escaped a red card in the first half after appearing to lash out at Nathan Collins. Having gone to ground under pressure from the defender, Silva twisted and seemed to strike the back of Collins’ leg.

Collins raised his hands to show he had done nothing wrong as Silva jumped back to his feet and continued to confront him, before Nico O'Reilly stepped in to pull him away. VAR reviewed the incident but ruled that the contact was not forceful enough to warrant a red card, and referee Michael Salisbury was not sent to the monitor.

The decision sparked debate on social media from Arsenal fans. One fan wrote on X: "That's violent conduct by Bernardo Silva," before another added: "Bernardo Silva just threw a punch and isn’t getting sent off. The amount of s*** he gets away with is ridiculous."
