BEREA, Ohio -- On Friday, the Cleveland Browns had the two highest-drafted wide receivers on the field since Andrew Berry became the general manager in 2020. The Browns drafted KC Concepcion in the first round (No. 24 overall) and then drafted Denzel Boston in the second round (No. 39 overall).
Todd Monken was asked having the pair on the field for the first time and if he envisioned using them in multiple roles.
"That's a great question," Monken said. "I think you're better off, at most putting them in two spots. If you can keep them in one spot, that helps their development, but I don't think you can get away with that. They're going to have to learn at least a couple of spots, but you want them to be able to play fast and be able to function without having to think. And that's been difficult wherever I've been when you've got a rookie.
"(It) happened a few years ago at the place I was before, and you just got to be careful of putting too much on their plate," he said. "But I was awfully pleased with them today and how they functioned, got lined up. You can see their skill set; you certainly could today."
Concepcion had arthroscopic surgery on his knee in March, but was on the field running routes and taking part in most football activities after sitting out the beginning of practice while the special teams were going through drills.

"We monitored him a little bit, but he was clear," Monken said. "He was good to go. Knee looks great. We just want to make sure we get through basically this weekend and the first week."
One of the highlight plays for Concepcion was during team drills when he caught a ball close to 30 yards down field from fellow rookie quarterback Taylen Green. Concepcion was able to get behind the defense and flashed his quickness and speed.
Concepcion (6-0, 190) spoke after practice and said his knee was good to go.
