As Walpole’s Cam Schlittler was facing Lexington’s Sal Frelick in Milwaukee — the Yankees’ Schlittler got the Brewers’ Frelick on a liner and a popup in a matchup of players from the 2018 Super 8 tournament, but Milwaukee got the last laugh with a 4-3 extra-inning win — the high school sports scene also enjoyed an overtime tally in the NCAA Division 1 men’s lacrosse tournament by a St. John’s Prep alum, a no-hitter in Freetown, a 500th save, a 300th lacrosse point, and one of the state’s premier football coaches stepping down after four consecutive Super Bowl trips.

Let’s we dive into it all, starting with our daily scoreboard and correspondent Trevor Hass’s story on Brian Ferris, a well-respected three-sport official who is fighting to get back on the field after suffering a severe spinal injury.

Staffiere holds a United States Soccer Federation B license and numerous NSCAA coaching certifications, including the Advanced National Certificate.
