Liverpool needs a maximum of three more points to qualify for the Champions League from here, with Arne Slot's men still to face Aston Villa and Brentford before the campaign comes to an end.

When the summer comes, regardless of the outcome in those two fixtures, Liverpool will have substantial work to do both in the transfer market and on the training pitch to improve. Another busy close season could be on the cards as Richard Hughes looks to strengthen his side's roster.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a familiar name: Anthony Gordon.

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)

Talks have already taken place between Bayern Munich and Newcastle for Gordon, according to Sky Germany, although Liverpool is said to remain in the discussions for his signature.

Newcastlehas supposedly initially demanded up to $106 million (€90M) for the winger, with the Reds among those informed alongside Barcelona and Arsenal.

However, it is expected that the fee could be between $88M and $100M, including bonuses. Bayern is reportedly refusing to pay that, with talks ongoing with the other candidates.

Liverpool.com says: Everything seems to be gearing toward Gordon leaving Newcastle this summer - it's just a question of where he ends up.

You'd have to imagine the Magpies would try to make things as difficult as possible for Liverpool after last year's Alexander Isak saga, so that might work against the Reds. They probably wouldn't be too keen on him joining Arsenal either, so it does feel like Bayern might still be the frontrunner, even if they don't want to meet the asking price.

Bradley Barcola (PSG)

Liverpool is among a host of clubs claimed to have contacted Bradley Barcola's agent, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

As well as the Reds, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are all named in the report.

With Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerging as Paris Saint-Germain's first-choice wingers, speculation is growing that the defending European champions could be willing to part ways with Barcola. A value of $83M (€70M) has been touted, which would appear to be a decent deal.

Liverpool.com says: It's incredible that a player like Barcola isn't starting regularly, but then the talent PSG has on either wing is ridiculous.

If there is any chance of him being lured away, then Liverpool should absolutely be taking a look, especially if that reported price is accurate, which we're not too sure it will be. For a 23-year-old the caliber of Barcola, $83M would be a bit of a bargain.
