Levi Colwill proves just how elite his mentality is in post-Liverpool interview

Levi Colwill is one Chelsea player who obviously cannot be criticised this season.

An ACL injury has seen Colwill miss what has been a disastrous campaign for Chelsea, but even if the defender had been present, it is likely that Blues fans would have gone easy on him.

Coming through the Chelsea academy, Colwill is one of our own. As well as that, the 23-year-old tends to say the right thing.

It was no different following the team’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Levi Colwill describes Liverpool game as ‘stepping stone’ to potential victory over Manchester City in FA Cup final

Chelsea’s next match is against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, their biggest game of the season. With the form that Calum McFarlane’s side are in, everyone will be expecting them to lose.

Not Colwill, though. The central defender has described their draw with Liverpool as a “stepping stone” to potential victory at Wembley next weekend.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website after the full-time whistle at Anfield, Colwill said: “We played some really good football, and we deserved three points, but that’s the way football goes. It’s a good stepping stone to take to the Manchester City game, and go to Wembley and win.”

Clearly, Colwill has the right mentality. He has the mindset you would expect of a Chelsea player.

If some of his teammates spent more time thinking about winning and not moving to another club, perhaps the Blues would be in a slightly better position.

Peter Crouch was really impressed with Colwill’s performance against Liverpool, describing him as “fantastic” after the game.

Levi Colwill has to start at Wembley

As long as there is no risk involved following his return from a serious injury, Colwill has to be named in Chelsea’s starting XI against City.

The England international is the best centre-half at Stamford Bridge, and that has been evident to see this season despite him barely kicking a ball.

Chelsea have missed his defending, leadership and ability to pass through the lines. Colwill is a really talented modern-day centre-back who brings a lot to this Chelsea team.

If he does not start against Pep Guardiola’s side, you would have to fear for Chelsea’s defence.
