Pundits weigh in on play-off first leg, penalty shout and Cozier-Duberry magic

Ex-players Billy Sharp and Luke Chambers weighed in on Amario Cozier-Duberry’s quality and Kayden Jackson’s penalty shout, among other topics.

Jackson wanted a spot kick after tangling with Chris Forino in the box in the second half, but the pundits agreed that the officials made the right call.

“From a striker’s point of view, the ball is brilliant,” said Sharp. “The weight of the ball is perfect just to hit it first time and I think he wastes his chance. No penalty, just too strong for him and knocks him off balance.

“Forino does well, he gets his arm across, but he has to hit it first time. It’s a wasted chance for me.

"If the defender goes to ground, he’s got a chance but that is why I think he’s done really well.”

“The weight of the pass is so perfect. It’s there for him just to his straight away because he is in front of Forino. It’s so, so soft,” Chambers added.

“It’s in his path, he doesn’t have to break stride. Can he get the strike off? There’s nothing in it, for me, and he goes down very easily in the end.”

The pundits were also full of praise for Cozier-Duberry after another moment of magic, taking him to 10 goals this season.

Moments after his goal, the Brighton loanee was inches away from a second but the woodwork came to Bradford’s rescue.

“I think the messaging in the dressing room at half time from Steven Schumacher was, we have been a little bit too safe,” said Chambers.

“Especially second half, things opened up for him. But what you get from him is a willingness to work and run.

“He gets himself in positions and he doesn’t mind keeping hold of the ball, taking people on to draw others out to create space for his team-mates.

“If he gets in positions like this, we have seen it all season long from him. We highlighted it before the game, he’s just so ruthless.”
