Chelsea managerial target now has‘concerns’about project

Chelsea could be about to scare away one manager as their search for Liam Rosenior’s replacement continues.

Chelsea fired Rosenior last month and are looking for a new head coach while Calum McFarlane takes charge of the first team for the time being.

The Blues are thought to be considering many names, including the Spanish trio of Xabi Alonso, Andoni Iraola and Cesc Fabregas.

Andoni Iraola has concerns about Chelsea project

If Iraola becomes Chelsea’s top target, it could take a lot of persuading to convince the Bournemouth manager to move to Stamford Bridge.

According to CaughtOffside, Iraola has “concerns” about Chelsea’s project, while the 43-year-old is also thought to be one of Crystal Palace’s top targets to replace the outgoing Oliver Glasner.

Iraola is not the only one who seems to have reservations about taking over the Club World Cup holders.

Journalist Simon Phillips claimed last month that Alonso wants assurances over getting more control if he is to succeed Rosenior.

Alonso and Iraola will both be available this summer, with the latter leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season. As for Alonso, he is already without a job.

Andoni Iraola’s concerns more than understandable

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali really cannot be surprised that Iraola and other managers are being hesitant about potentially replacing Rosenior in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

After all, they sacked the Englishman less than four months after handing him a six-year contract.

There are also five sporting directors at Chelsea to deal with. It is very hard to imagine how someone like Alonso can come in and get the final say on matters when there are five individuals above him in the club’s sporting structure.

Chelsea will not have Champions League football to offer, either. All in all, Chelsea’s owners cannot be angry if their managerial targets end up elsewhere this summer. They have created an environment at the club that is impossible to manage in.
