Wayne Rooney believes neither Arsenal nor Manchester City will stumble between now and the conclusion of the season - an outcome that would see Mikel Arteta's side clinch the Premier League title by two points. City's 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday piled the pressure back on Arsenal, who travel to face West Ham in a London derby.

Goals from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush secured the victory that moved Pep Guardiola's side to within two points of the north Londoners. The gap remains at two, with City playing their game in hand against Crystal Palace next Wednesday (May 13).

City still have nine points left to play for - and Arsenal have the same, starting with today's trip to the Hammers. Following that fixture, they will host Burnley at the Emirates Stadium before travelling to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on the final day of the campaign, ahead of the Champions League final against Paris Saint‐Germain in Budapest on May 30.

Meanwhile, City face the FA Cup final against Chelsea before rounding off their league season with a trip to Bournemouth on the south coast and a home clash against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Rooney assessed both sides' remaining schedules and concluded that each is likely to win all of their outstanding fixtures.

"I think City just have to try and win their games, I said this last week that I felt City would drop points against Everton," Rooney said. "I feel both teams will win every game [from now], which makes Arsenal champions."

When questioned about what the Arsenal squad might be going through ahead of a possible title triumph, Rooney explained: "Excitement, nervous. You get every emotion and obviously with Man City winning today, now it's on Arsenal to go out and win the game against West Ham.

"Every type of emotion you think you can have, you go through over this next couple of weeks and it's brilliant when you're in it and when you get out of it at the right time then it's such a good feeling. But when you're on the wrong side of it, it's one of the worst feelings in the world."

Should both sides secure victory in their remaining fixtures, Arsenal would conclude the season on 85 points with City finishing on 83.
