Erling Haaland has admitted he thinks of titles every single day at Manchester City as the title race with Arsenal heats up. After a draw at Everton, City knew they realistically needed to beat Brentford to stand a chance of catching the Gunners. Keith Andrews' side frustrated the Blues in the first half.
However, Jeremy Doku's curling effort on the hour mark eased the nerves and opened the floodgates. Haaland made it two with 15 minutes remaining with a clever finish after a scramble before Omar Marmoush added gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time.
City are still relying on Arsenal to slip up if they are to win the Premier League. But Haaland admitted the team try not to get too far ahead of themselves despite the title race going into the final stages. "I haven’t thought of any other game," the striker said post-match.
"Just tired playing this game. How we approach the next game is to not think of any other games for two days and then try to win the next game.
"Recover. Then next game and then same again. If you play for Manchester City, you think of titles every single day."
Arsenal travel to West Ham this afternoon with the pressure on both clubs for different reasons. City play their game in hand on Mikel Arteta's side on Wednesday when they host Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.
On the Brentford victory and his personal goal tally, Haaland added: "It feels good to win 3-0. We just missed the last shot on goal today.
"We created a lot of chances and didn’t get the last shot on a lot of crosses. Brentford defended well. They are a good team.
"There are no easy games in the Premier League. So we are happy. It’s alright [his goal tally]. It’s been an up-and-down season.
"I am trying to do my job and 26 goals is more than last year. So it’s okay."
